When It All Comes Together

Photographing performers is matter of rapid shooting and then finding the shots where it all came together. This shot of Natalie Cole is one of those finds. Natalie’s hands are as expressive as her face. One of my rapid fire shots caught her at just the right moment when both her head and her hand gesture were isolated against a clear background. No clutter to interfere with an appreciation of her emotion.

It's Not just the Performers

Shooting the concert? Don’t quit when the band stops. The roadies are a good subject too.

Take the Dog

An eleven day road trip and the dog came along. Part of the trip was to a friend’s horse farm and the interaction of our dog, Mara, and the horses was great.

More on Creative Tools

Recently, while showing Canadian artist, Dominik Modlinski, the scenic side of Northeast Florida, I took a number of photos of scenes blasted by Florida’s midday sun. The original photos are harsh and though the subject and composition are good it is difficult to bring out the potential in a photo format. But if you are willing to use creative tools, like Topaz Lab’s, Simplify, you can bring out the beauty that the harsh sun has bleached away.
